Welcome to Statesville’s Greenway Trail! 


The City of Statesville Greenway Trail is a great way to exercise while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. You can walk, jog, hike, and even bike on the trail while avoiding large crowds and motorized vehicles.

The greenway is made up of 4 sections available for use that will eventually connect together for one continuous trail that encircles Statesville.

Here are some facts about the greenway:

  • The trail was established in 2001.
  • Combining the different sections, the trail currently covers 6 miles.
  • The entire trail will eventually be paved 10 feet wide with asphalt.
  • The Fourth Creek section of the trail is the only section that is currently paved.

Fourth Creek Segment
(2.2 Miles)

The Fourth Creek Section of the City of Statesville Greenway is a wide paved greenway that weaves its way from Free Nancy Avenue to Broad Street. Parts of the trail provide complete seclusion from development as the trail follows Fourth Creek. The eastern most side of the trail opens up to run along the Statesville Soccer Complex while continuing along the creek. With multiple access points and passages under roads, the greenway provides the perfect escape for a walk, bike, or a run.

Gregory Creek Segment
(2.71 Miles)

The Gregory Creek Section of the City of Statesville Greenway runs through a secluded wooded area along both Gregory and Fourth Creeks. The linear trail has access points at either end. The Iredell Museums Gregory Creek Homestead is a historic exhibit is located at the western trailhead in a historic pumphouse. The trail encircles McClure Park, a large baseball and softball park. The 1.3-mile trail continues to follow Gregory Creek to Pump Station Road where it will eventually connect to Fourth Street Section of the Statesville.

Kids in Parks - TRACK Trails

The Statesville Recreation and Parks Department is proud to partner with Kids in Parks. Kids in Parks offers an expanding network of family-friendly outdoor adventures called TRACK Trails. Each TRACK Trail features self-guided brochures and signs that turn your visit into a fun and exciting outdoors experience. Best of all, you can earn PRIZES for tracking your adventures!

The Statesville Greenway TRACK Trail follows Fourth Creek Greenway for 2 miles and offers an easy and scenic walk for kids and family to enjoy. The greenway features views of Fourth Creek, bridge crossings, and access to amenities such as restrooms, picnic areas, and sports fields.

Newtonville Segment
 (.41 Miles)

The Newtonville Section of the City of Statesville Greenway starts at the Mac Anderson Park ,a 36.13-acre park, intersects the Newtonville Community Park then travels to North Center Street. The shady trail in a 7.6-acre community park offers the community playground equipment, picnic tables, and horseshoe pits. The trail ends at the sidewalk of North Center Street in front of Statesville High School. Following the sidewalk to the left, then a right on Harness Road will take you to Lakewood Drive where Martin Luther King Jr. Park and another section of the greenway is available for use.

The Denso Section of the City of Statesville Greenway runs rom Salisbury Road (between E. Sharpe Street and Greenway Drive) to Statesville Middle School.
