The Ralph L. Bentley Community Center opened in January 1996 and is named after former Mayor Bentley who served from December, 1985 - December, 1993.

The Ralph L. Bentley Community Center sits on approximately 3 acres of land and houses a full size basketball court, fitness room, game room, multipurpose room available for rent, kitchen, and learning center. Outdoor amenities include a splash pad that has rentable shelters.

Bentley Center Storywalk®

A StoryWalk® combines the joy of reading with the benefits of outdoor exercise. Pages from a children's book are printed and placed along designated walking pathways, creating an interactive reading experience that unfolds as you stroll along. This initiative is a fantastic way to encourage families to enjoy quality time together while nurturing literacy and physical well-being.

We invite you to visit the Bentley Center Storywalk®Featuring the children's book "How to Catch a Bully Fish" by local authors Xavier Zsarmani Sr. and Jr., this Storywalk promises to be a source of joy, education, and family bonding for all who visit.

**The Splash Pad is open seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day Weekend and is currently CLOSED for the 2023 season.

The Statesville Splash Pad at the Ralph L. Bentley Community Center is open seasonally FREE to the public from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.

Splash Pad Rules & Regulations

FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL PARTICIPANTS, PLEASE COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING SPLASH PAD RULES. 
  • Use the splash pad at your own risk. No attendant is on duty.
  • Children under the age of 12 must have adult supervision at all times in the splash pad area. Never leave a child unattended at the splash pad.
  • Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper. Please change your child’s swim diaper outside of the splash pad area and dispose of used swim diapers properly.
  • Proper swim attire must be worn at all times. Street shoes are prohibited. Sandals, water shoes, flip flops or appropriate deck wear is recommended.

The following activities and items are NOT permitted in the splash pad area:

  • Running, rough play and profanity
  • Climbing, sitting, swinging, pulling and playing on splash pad apparatus
  • Skateboards, skates, rollerblades, scooters, bicycles or similar recreation equipment (Strollers, walkers and wheelchairs are permitted.)
  • Food, candy, gum, beverages, and glass containers
  • Alcoholic beverages, smoking, drugs and weapons
  • Intentionally covering water fixtures and drains
  • Pool toys, water balloons, water guns, athletic and other recreation equipment
  • Soaps, detergents, and shampoos
  • Pets, except certified service animals
  • Persons with open cuts, sores, infection or diseases that may be transmitted by the water
  • Amplified music

Individuals engaging in any unsafe or disruptive behavior will be asked to leave the splash pad area.

At the first sign of thunder, lightning or severe weather, vacate the splash pad area immediately. Splash Pad will remain closed for 30 minutes after severe weather. The splash pad may be closed at any time due to weather, maintenance or other operational concerns.

Restrooms are available and located inside of the Bentley Community Center. Patrons must be dry upon entry into the facility.
