Connected Business Description: Martin Luther King, Jr Park is Statesville’s most popular park with its natural setting and well-maintained grounds and pond. It is the perfect location to host family gatherings, reunions, and small weddings. This park offers 3 shelters with fireplaces, playground equipment, walking trails, bocce ball courts, and an amphitheater. Also located at the park are the Jack H. Springer Horseshoe Courts, which boast 24 lighted regulation courts and were the site for the 1979 and 1983 World Horseshoe Tournaments. MLK, Jr., Park is also the site for our Art in the Park celebration held each year in June. Fishing is allowed in the pond Monday – Friday, catch and release only. Shelter, gazebo, and amphitheater reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and are strongly encouraged. The cost to reserve a shelter is $20 an hour, and payment in full is required within 24 hours to confirm your reservation. Special event applications may be required for some events.
