Last Updated 5/2/2025

Situated on around 3 acres, the Ralph L. Bentley Community Center is a hub for community engagement and wellness. With various indoor and outdoor amenities, it caters to residents' well-being and recreational needs. Let's explore the core of Bentley Community Center, highlighting the committed individuals fostering community spirit.

Eric Heaggans, Supervisor

Fondly known as Mr. E in the community, Eric Heaggans has dedicated an impressive 27 years to the City of Statesville Recreation & Parks Department, with the current leg of his journey centered at Bentley Community Center. His favorite aspect of the job speaks volumes about his commitment – witnessing individuals grow up and return to the facility as adults. Many attribute their personal growth to Mr. E's influence, highlighting the positive impact he has had on the community.

Teresa Henry, Assistant Supervisor

Teresa Henry, the Assistant Supervisor at Bentley Community Center, brings 12 years of experience and a passion for community engagement. Her role extends beyond the administrative duties, as she actively collaborates with patrons within the Center and various organizations to plan and execute community events. Teresa's dedication to fostering connections within the community is a driving force behind the center's vibrant atmosphere.

The Bentley Community Center boasts a full-size basketball court, a fitness room, a game room, and a multipurpose room available for rent. The kitchen facilities and learning center add versatility to the center's offerings. Outdoors, a rentable shelter accompanies a community splash pad, providing a space for families and friends to gather and celebrate and is free to the public.

The Bentley Center is not just a facility; it's a community hub with unique attractions. The Bentley Center Storywalk® invites visitors to enjoy literary adventures while exploring the surroundings. Additionally, the Statesville Splash Pad offers a refreshing escape, creating memories for residents of all ages.

The dedicated team members, here at the Bentley Community Center, embody the spirit of community service. Their unwavering commitment, coupled with the diverse facilities and attractions, makes Bentley Community Center more than just a recreational space – it's a home for shared experiences and connections that last a lifetime.

Whether you're shooting hoops, enjoying the Storywalk®, or simply cooling off at the splash pad, remember that Bentley Community Center is a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and care.
