Celebrating Park and Recreation Professionals Day: 40 Years of Growing Strong Together

Each July, communities across the country celebrate Parks and Recreation Month - and this year marks a special milestone: 40 years of recognizing the profound impact that parks and recreation has on our lives. Here in Statesville, we are proud to join the national celebration with our own proclamation declaring July as Parks and Recreation Month, recognizing the incredible work of our Recreation & Parks Department.

On Park and Recreation Professionals Day, we take a moment to highlight the dedicated team behind the scenes - the planners, programmers, and visionaries who help make Statesville a vibrant, healthy, and connected community.

The Statesville Recreation & Parks Department works year-round to create opportunities that enhance the quality of life for all residents. From maintaining our beautiful parks and greenways to organizing inclusive programs for all ages, the team is passionate about building spaces where community can grow and thrive. Whether it’s through youth sports that develop life skills, senior programs that foster connection, or special events that bring neighbors together, their work touches every corner of our city.

As this year’s national theme reminds us, it's been “Build Together, Play Together” - and in Statesville, that growth continues each day thanks to the leadership, innovation, and heart of our Parks and Recreation professionals.
